         The things that were still the same was that Jay Berry was still in both. Daisy, mama, papa, grandpa, and Rowdy were also there.  Daisy was crippled and she had a clubhouse.  They found a fairy ring  while Daisy was screaming.  Jay and Rowdy both went into the bottoms to catch the monkeys.  There was a storm and Daisy saw the Old Man of the Mountains in the storm.  There was still a leading monkey that took care of the other monkeys.  The monkeys still went with there owner at the end.  Jay did get to choose his pony.

Differences

            In the movie it made me mad that the horse that Jay Berry got was not a paint horse.  Instead it was a quarter horse.  It made me mad as well how Jay didn’t get to keep the horse.  The movie just stops at where Jay gave his sister the money than it when in a completely different direction.  The entire movie ended where Jay was taking the horse back to where he had loaned it from.  The horses’ name was different  instead of being Dolly the horses name was Annie.  Grandma was also not in the movie.  In chapter nine Jay Berry was suppose to get drunk. Jay did not do any of theses things.

Review

           The book and the movie are not very similar.  You are probably wondering what book and movie I’m talking about.  I’m talking about the 1976 book Summer of the Monkeys, and the 1998 movie version of the Summer of the Monkeys.  The Disney company could have used the author to help.  They should do this because it would help the story stick to the original story.  The Disney Company could have skipped some parts earlier on in the movie but they put those parts in.  The author probably could have added a couple of scenes from the movie.  I liked how the movie producer put in where Jay Berry got a cape to try and catch the monkeys.  If I had not read the book I probably would have liked the movie, but sadly I read the book.  All in all I would give the book five star, and the movie about a three star rating.
